A Structurally Characterized Organometallic Plutonium(IV) Complex
The blood-red plutonocene complex Pu(1,3-COT'')(1,4-COT'') (4; COT''=η8 -bis(trimethylsilyl)cyclooctatetraenyl) has been synthesized by oxidation of the anionic sandwich complex Li[Pu(1,4-COT'')2 ] (3) with anhydrous cobalt(II) chloride. The first crystal structure determination of an organoplutonium(IV) complex revealed an asymmetric sandwich structure for 4 where one COT'' ring is 1,3-substit...
متن کاملPiccolo, a Presynaptic Zinc Finger Protein Structurally Related to Bassoon
Piccolo is a novel component of the presynaptic cytoskeletal matrix (PCM) assembled at the active zone of neurotransmitter release. Analysis of its primary structure reveals that Piccolo is a multidomain zinc finger protein structurally related to Bassoon, another PCM protein. Both proteins were found to be shared components of glutamatergic and GABAergic CNS synapses but not of the cholinergic...
متن کاملZinc finger peptide cleavage by a dinuclear platinum compound.
Electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) and {(1)H, (15)N HSQC} NMR spectroscopy has elucidated the binding of a dinuclear platinum compound to a zinc finger peptide with induced backbone cleavage. Cleavage is selective on the N-terminal side of the cysteine residue following incubation at neutral pH, and is further dependent on structure of dinuclear compound.
متن کاملFood-chain transfer of zinc
This study examines the food-chain transfer of Zn from two plant species, Urtica 31 dioica (stinging nettle) and Acer pseudoplatanus (sycamore maple), into their corresponding 32 aphid species, Microlophium carnosum and Drepanosiphum platanoidis. The plants were 33 grown in a hydroponic system using solutions with increasing concentrations of Zn from 0.017 34 to 42 mg Zn/l, although U. dioica o...
متن کاملProduction of a Scurvy-like Condition by Feeding of a Compound Structurally Related to Ascorbic Acid
The feeding of glucoascorbic acid, an analog of ascorbic acid, to mice and cotton rats caused the production of a condition exhibiting many of the changes characteristic of scurvy as seen in susceptible species. The condition was not prevented or cured by ascorbic acid, but was cured by removal of the glucoascorbic acid from the ration. The condition was produced in mice fed a highly purified r...
